Simon Paneak (1900-1975) was a great hunter, trapper, storyteller and historian. He worked with many prominent scientists such as the noted arctic biologist Laurence Irving. To comemorate his contributions, the Simon Paneak Memorial Museum was established in Anaktuvuk Pass in 1986 (http://spmm.nsb-ihlc.com/). The museum focuses on recording and preserving the history, traditions, and artifacts of the Nunamiut.
In this video, Karlene Ticket takes us on a tour of the museum.
