George Paneak (1 February 1949 - 19 September 2009), was the mayor of Anaktuvuk Pass in 2008. His father Simon Paneak was very well-known and distinguished as a guide and instructor of scholars in the Arctic Alaska. His brother Raymond Paneak is a well-respected elder from Anaktuvuk Pass.

In his interview, George talked about his experience of growing up in a then nomadic community, forced to settle down. He talked about his communities close relationship with caribou, and challanges his people face in the today's world.
